2024 District 7 Pacesetter

Dr. Tim Cook
President
Clackamas Community College
Oregon City, OR

How has Dr. Cook supported students at Clakamas Community College (CCC)?
During his tenure, we have created space for a free clinic to be housed on campus. The Fem Forward mobile health facility visits campus twice a month. All three CCC campuses have well-stocked food pantries. We also partnered with the YMCA to offer drop-in child care for students while they attend classes or meetings.

How has Dr. Cook shown a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion?
Dr. Cook’s staunch commitment to DEI has led the college to host a variety of community events, including our now annual Summer Connections, which celebrates Pride Month and Juneteenth; a Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde lecture; Black History Month panels; a Black women in leadership panel; and an Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month talk. Under his leadership, we have changed how we hire employees to attract and retain a more diverse workforce.

How has Dr. Cook supported marcom and PR at CCC?
From his personal brand of being known for his bowties to the brand of the college (Go far, close to home), Dr. Cook embraces all things that advance CCC. He’s supported increasing the college relations and marketing budget and investing in a recent website redesign. He is active on social media and amplifies our messaging by sharing our posts and posting about college events and activities.

But most importantly, Dr. Cook is game for just about anything to help promote the college, including dressing up as our mascot, Cougie; portraying Kevin in our spoof of “Home Alone”; being taped to a wall for a Phi Beta Kappa fundraiser; and even donning a wrestling uniform for a video.
