What have been some of Abby’s biggest accomplishments since starting at Hagerstown Community College (HCC)?
As a recent college graduate when she started at HCC in 2022, Abby was green but immediately impressed the team with her sound judgment and ability to get up to speed in her new position. A year later, she applied for the digital marketing manager position. The search committee unanimously selected her. Engagement on social media increased significantly thanks to Abby. She developed and implemented a monthly data tracking system that is concise and effective. In the first quarter of 2024, overall engagement on HCC’s Instagram account ranked number one among Maryland’s community colleges and number one in follower growth percentage among all two-and four-year schools in Maryland.
How has Abby demonstrated leadership skills?
Since she’s been at HCC, Abby has been asked to serve on several campus committees, including as a member of the negotiating team for the collective bargaining process. Abby was chosen to represent HCC in Leadership Washington County for the upcoming year. This year-long program involves a select group of individuals from diverse backgrounds in the community who work to strengthen their network of contacts and actively engage in issues around topics like economic development, history, education, religion, politics, and social service needs.
What other skills does Abby bring to the team?
Abby is creative and works quickly to create engaging content. She watches trends and consistently has creative ideas to successfully implement her visions. She is an effective communicator who sees the larger picture and knows how to work with others to ensure that important information reaches the appropriate audiences.
